The ascension of Milorad Dodik as the president of Republika Srpska in 2010 marked a turning point in Bosnia's political landscape. His increasing advocacy for independence and open criticism of Bosnia's state authority exacerbated tensions, leading to a series of alarming political crises. In response to legal rulings aimed at challenging Republika Srpska's claims, Dodik initiated numerous controversial referendums, some of which defied the authority of Bosnia’s Constitutional Court.
