Part 3/12:
Electricity and heat generation accounts for nearly one-third of global carbon emissions, traditionally dominated by coal, oil, and gas. Yet, the emergence of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power is transforming the landscape. Globally, more than 4,000 gigawatts (GW) of renewable capacity has been established since the year 2000, with over 30% of electricity now coming from renewable sources. Countries like Uruguay, which generates around 90% of its electricity from renewables, and South Australia, on the way to achieving a 100% clean grid by 2027, exemplify successful transitions.
