Part 3/12:
The gang violence issue is not isolated to Haiti. Other Caribbean nations such as Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad and Tobago have witnessed similar surges in gang violence, creating a complex landscape of crime across the region. Disturbingly, the Caribbean is home to five of the world's ten most homicidal countries. For example, Turks and Caicos recorded a homicide rate of 77 per 100,000 people in 2022, a doubling from the previous year. Jamaica's murder rate rose to 52.9 per 100,000, predominantly linked to organized crime.
