With the current came an optimism that riding the coattails of Trump's campaign energy would lend credibility to their own aspirations. Public figures such as Nigel Farage of Reform UK and Alice Wyel of Germany's AFD seemed to bask in the reflected glory of their connection with Trump, presenting themselves as champions of a populist cause.
