These command centers were designed for continuity of government; however, they remained largely unused—demonstrating a stark contrast to the chaos that ensued elsewhere. The President and his cabinet eventually relocated to an offshore oil rig, known as the Poseidon energy facility, a secretive hideout that allowed the elite to maintain control even in the wake of annihilation.
