No investment comes without risk. Markets will experience downturns—such as the financial crises or pandemic-related crashes—meaning you may encounter paper losses. However, timing the market is a flawed strategy; waiting for the “perfect” moment often results in missed opportunities. Instead, develop a strategy of consistently investing over time.
My own experience during the 2007 financial crisis taught me the importance of maintaining a long-term perspective. I waited too long to invest, missing out on advantageous opportunities when prices were low.
