The Supporting Characters: A Mixed Bag
Alongside Ichigo is a cast of supporting characters that varies in depth and relevance. Orihime Inoue initially showcases a vibrant personality, but as the series progresses, her character development becomes less about her own growth and more about superficial enhancements—specifically, her physical appearance.
Another key character is Chad, the tall and silent type who seems to embody wasted potential, and Uryu Ishida, the studious bow-and-arrow-wielding classmate, who also suffers from a significant drop in relevance midway through the series. Ishida’s character does receive a momentary revival, where he feigns evil to join the antagonists—a subplot that raises more questions than answers.
