Interestingly, although the Kurds of Rojava are determined to maintain their autonomy, they are not seeking full independence. The broader Kurdish aspirations for an independent Kurdistan, extending across Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria, complicate the Rojava situation. Given the volatile nature of regional politics, particularly the threat of invasion from Turkey, the future of Rojava remains uncertain. However, significant political changes—such as the recent overthrow of Syria's dictator Bashar al-Assad—could reshape aspirations for independence in the future.
