There are valid concerns regarding how much land will be needed for renewable energy developments, but Ritchie's analysis reveals that they require much less than commonly imagined. For instance, global electricity needs could be met using less than 1% of the world's land for solar energy, and wind farms would require about 5%. Furthermore, land between wind turbines can still be utilized for agricultural purposes.
