However, she recognizes that cars will remain part of our transportation landscape. Thus, the decarbonization of automobiles is critical. Although electric cars initially produce higher embedded emissions due to battery manufacturing, they pay off these carbon debts quickly, leading to emissions reductions of about 50-66% over their lifetime compared to conventional petrol or diesel vehicles.
