Next comes the daily standup, originally intended as a brief check-in that has morphed into an endurance test for many teams. Half of the team dutifully announces what they accomplished the previous day, what they plan to do today, and that they face no blockers. Meanwhile, the other half zones out, eager only for their turn to regurgitate the same script.
As if this weren’t enough, the manager often turns what was meant to be a 15-minute check-in into an interrogation, demanding updates on features that haven’t even been initiated yet. This awkward dynamic further solidifies the frustrating reality of Agile, where important issues get overlooked in favor of rote compliance.
