Despite its success, the gondola system is not without its challenges. While passenger capacity is fixed—10-person cabins depart every 12 seconds during peak hours—this model can cause congestion at rush times, unlike traditional train systems where additional vehicles can be deployed. Moreover, reliability issues sometimes arise, particularly as the gondolas were not originally designed for year-round public transit use.
Nonetheless, the gondola has effectively fulfilled the role of a public transit system, achieving financial self-sufficiency without government subsidies. The average passenger now plunges through their commute significantly faster, while the network has managed to avoid the issues that plague bus transit, such as protest-related roadblocks.
