In tandem with increased competition, I also encountered another significant obstacle: eBay's rising fees. For video game listings, I started noticing fees exceeding 10%, inching towards 13.5%. Such charges dramatically cut into my profit margins, making it increasingly difficult to maintain the same level of earnings I once enjoyed.
Previously, my strategy of purchasing individual games and selling them off—for example, buying a game for $5 and selling it for $20—felt profitable. However, with rising fees, this sort of profit became significantly less enticing. I found myself needing to move in larger volumes to offset these percentages, which was an unsustainable expectation given my limited capacity for sourcing and selling.
