After saving a sum of money to ensure a comfortable transition, I booked a one-way flight to the Netherlands. As I soared through the clouds toward Amsterdam, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. Collectivism vs. Individualism
Living in the Netherlands for several months now, I have come to realize that what differentiates the quality of life in Europe from that in the U.S. is the prevalent collectivist mentality. While Americans are often steeped in individualism—where self-reliance is paramount—my experience in Europe unveiled the strength that a supportive environment can provide.
