Part 2/9:
Videos circulating on social media capture the stark transformation of Khartoum, a city that was once bustling with over eight million residents. As of March 2025, it appeared more akin to a war-torn landscape, littered with burnt-out vehicles and abandoned buildings, as civilian casualties mounted. A study conducted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine estimated that over 26,000 individuals had already lost their lives in the greater Khartoum area from April 2023 to June 2024. To contextualize this staggering number, it is more than the reported death toll from the conflict in Gaza.
