The Burden of Perfection: Industry Standards and Expectations
In the year 2017, the landscape of animation drastically tilted towards hyper-realistic 3D renderings with studios like Pixar setting exceedingly high standards. Anxiety over realism and scrutiny from online communities added to the pressure, causing potential 3D animators to hesitate. Conversely, the breakthrough of "Into the Spiderverse" in 2018 championed stylized 3D animation, encouraging creators to break free from the necessity of realism.
Despite this paradigm shift, it has been seven years since such stylistic 3D animation was celebrated, and a perplexing absence of mainstream 3D storytime animators still prevails. The question remains: why haven't more creators embraced this medium?
