The Path Forward: Stalemate in Peace Efforts
Various peace proposals have circulated over the years, categorizing options into three main solutions: territorial sovereignty (ceding to either India or Pakistan), independence, or a model of autonomy. However, each path encounters significant challenges. A referendum is unlikely due to India's adamant stance against it, fearing loss of territory. Independence is complicated by internal diversity, while past autonomy proposals have lost traction, especially post the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's autonomy.
