Part 3/11:
The U.S. applied pressure on Ukraine, even temporarily withdrawing military and intelligence support, to sway them into accepting the ceasefire and entering negotiations without the guarantee of comprehensive security, a prerequisite Ukraine had previously emphasized. Yet, Russia’s response was lukewarm; instead of a full ceasefire, they offered only limited agreements focused on energy infrastructure and naval operations in the Black Sea. However, these arrangements quickly unraveled, resulting in mutual accusations of violations between the two countries, which ultimately led Trump to conclude that a temporary ceasefire was unattainable.
