Part 8/12:

For years, the war waged on, with the Persians progressively encroaching upon Byzantine territories. Yet, the tides slowly began to turn. Charbaras diverted his attention towards Egypt, providing Heraclius with the opportunity to regroup and strategize. Drawing inspiration from Maurice's ancient manual of military tactics, Heraclius trained and invigorated a small but fierce legion comprising the last defenders of Rome.

On April 4, 622 CE, Heraclius finally struck back, achieving a critical victory against Charbaras. This resulted in consecutive triumphs against the once-dominant Persian forces. Heraclius's leadership rejuvenated the Byzantine spirit, and they fought fiercely, ultimately reversing the losses inflicted on them.
