Gibraltar, a British overseas territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, has been at the center of a long-standing territorial dispute between Spain and the United Kingdom. Since the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713, which ceded Gibraltar to Britain following the War of the Spanish Succession, Spain has continually claimed sovereignty over the territory.
