One of the tactics often employed by small creators is leaving comments on videos requesting subscribers. While it may seem harmless and even effective, engaging in this behavior without caution can result in severe consequences. When YouTube detects repetitive comments from a single channel—particularly comments that appear spammy—it may flag that account as a bot.
An example highlighted an unfortunate situation where a subscriber commented “subscribed” on multiple videos, only to have her channel removed after being flagged for spamming. To avoid this, creators should engage genuinely. Instead of spamming the same comment, they should contribute meaningful dialogue or refrain from participating in comment threads aimed at mutual subscription.
