The United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the largest humanitarian agency on Earth, is at the forefront of this endeavor. The WFP has been pivotal in combating hunger amidst wars and natural disasters, and I accompanied them on a journey through the Sahel region of Africa to witness their groundbreaking efforts first-hand. Gaining access to these remote areas, particularly during the rainy season marked by torrential monsoon storms, posed significant challenges. Yet, it is these seasonal rains that refugees have learned to harness in transforming the arid landscape into fertile land.
