Currently, about 20.6% of EU goods exports go to the United States, creating an imbalance that many EU officials seek to rectify. Collaboration with the CPTPP could give the EU a broader export base and more leverage against perceived misdeeds from China as the Asian superpower reroutes trade surplus exports towards European markets.
