Australia, which holds the CPTPP presidency, has indicated an interest in resuming stalled trade discussions with the EU, signaling potentially favorable conditions for broader dialogues.
The EU enjoys existing trade relationships with nine CPTPP members and formal trade agreements with Japan, Canada, Vietnam, and Singapore, which may facilitate future negotiations. If successful, an agreement could potentially create the world’s largest free trade zone, incorporating both developed economies and emerging markets outside of U.S. influence.
