Part 9/12:

A newer player in the carbon capture arena is Direct Air Capture (DAC), increasingly drawing attention with only a handful of operational large-scale facilities worldwide. Climeworks’ Mammoth plant is one of the largest and can capture about 36,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. While DAC technologies are in their infancy and still face significant scaling and cost barriers—price estimates range from $500 to $700 per tonne for capturing atmospheric CO2—there’s a concerted effort to refine technologies to drive prices down substantially.
