Younger Voters Turn Away
The enthusiasm that younger voters once had for Obama has waned significantly in the years since his presidency. Initially energized by Obama’s messages of hope and change, many younger voters—millennials and Gen Z—became disillusioned as these promises went largely unfulfilled.
Economic issues, coupled with a perception of incompetence from established Democratic figures, have contributed to this disenchantment. Trump’s innovative engagement strategies, particularly through podcasts and streaming platforms, have allowed him to resonate directly with young male voters, flipping the traditional voting trends. Harris ended up with only 54% of the under-30 vote, losing the Gen Z male demographic to Trump.
