Part 6/8:
A Turning Point: Realization and Resilience
Acknowledging my struggles became vital; I needed to embrace gratitude and privilege in undertaking this journey. The realization hit me hard after moments of self-doubt—rather than wallowing, I needed to push forward, appreciating the commitment I had already made.
As the journey continued, an unforeseen surf trip created unexpected challenges. While I aimed to burn calories, the fatigue from surfing compounded my hunger and left me reverting to poor dietary choices. I found myself gaining weight, feeling guilty and frustrated after making significant progress in prior weeks.
This was tough, however, it dawned on me that I shouldn’t allow setbacks to define my journey. I recognized how far I’d already come and resolved to finish strong.
