Part 3/8:
World War II saw British and Soviet forces invade Iran under the guise of ensuring its neutrality. This resulted in the overthrow of the monarch, leading to the installment of Muhammad Raza Pahlavi, who became an authoritarian ruler supported by Western powers. Under his regime, previously established political unrest transformed into a full-blown revolution by the late 1970s, culminating in the overthrow of the shah and the establishment of an Islamic Republic led by Ayatollah Khomeini.
