Supporting Fish Migration
The project's second focal point involves facilitating fish migration, which is currently hindered by numerous barriers formed by historically excavated ditches. The critically endangered European eel, whose life cycle is intricately connected to various aquatic ecosystems, has faced significant challenges due to these obstacles. The reevaluation of the existing channels aims to eliminate barriers by re-profiling and creating a series of step pools to facilitate the movement of both eels and other migratory fish.
