Part 3/10:
One of the most prominent transformations witnessed on this farm is in the soil condition. Previously compacted, depleted soil has been revitalized to a loose and fluffy texture conducive to growing a variety of vegetables. Crops such as broccoli, cauliflower, salad greens, and apple trees have flourished due to the methods employed here. In fact, innovative grafting techniques have even yielded impressive apple and pear trees in just one year.
The concept of returning biomass from plants back to the soil contrasts sharply with conventional gardening, which often requires external compost sources. This is a cornerstone of the permaculture philosophy, where the focus is on creating a self-sustaining environment rather than relying on outside inputs.
