Barcelona experienced even greater influxes, with approximately 15 million tourists visiting a city whose local population pales in comparison. Many residents are beginning to fear that this wave of tourism not only inflates housing costs but may lead to a diminished quality of life. Over the past decade, rental prices in particular have nearly doubled in many urban areas.
