The initial response to a world devoid of humanity is a swift decline in power supply. Most major power grids would fail rapidly due to a lack of demand and maintenance. Power plants, particularly those that rely on fossil fuels, require a constant supply of resources which cannot be sustained without people. As oil plants begin to shut down within hours, a cascade of failures would take place, leading to widespread blackouts across cities and towns.
