Part 8/8:
To encapsulate, in examining the potential for artificial lights to persist in a world stripped of humanity, we find a mixture of energy systems, each with its unique challenges and durations. While grid-based lights will extinguish almost immediately, sources like solar panels and certain radioactively-enhanced materials may defy time with enduring brightness.
Ultimately, the probability that our most toxic waste could outlive all other light sources, casting faint illumination from deep within concrete vaults, stands as a poignant testament to the unintended legacies of humanity's influence on the world. We may vanish, but the remnants of our civilization—some glowing and some dark—will likely linger long after our departure.
