A Promising Solution: Land Restoration and Community Cooperation

Amidst this challenging backdrop, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), in partnership with the Chad government, NGOs, farmers, and herders, has implemented an innovative approach centered on ecological restoration and community agreements.

At the heart of this strategy are simple water harvesting structures, such as half moons, and planting resilient pioneer tree species like acacia. Within just two years, degraded landscapes transformed dramatically—they now support grasses, fodder, and trees that foster biodiversity and productivity.
