For the Yemeni government, the mounting territorial loss is catastrophic. Their territorial holdings are predominantly in sparsely populated northern regions and areas less vital to economic stability, leaving their hold on the country increasingly tenuous. The loss of the southern economy, rich in oil and resources, risks relegating the government to a diminished role or even total collapse.
