Some prisoners, like Skinny Brown, play the role of agitator—crafting petitions and grievances while secretly planning further disruptions. Others display resignation, acknowledging that their time is limited, and hinting at deeper plans to escape or continue their rebellion.
The inmates also manipulate perceptions, pretending to be compliant or staging acts of negotiation while secretly preparing for violence if necessary. The psychological warfare extends to plans for spreading misinformation, staging riots, and using hostages effectively.
