By the late 1960s, Summers moved into London’s vibrant music scene, playing in rhythm and blues bands such as Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band at the famed Flamingo Club. This period exposed him to American rhythm and blues artists like James Brown and Ray Charles, broadening his musical palette. He admired players like Grant Green for their soulful, improvisational solos and sought to incorporate elements of jazz and blues into his playing.
