The composition that captivated Dylan is identified as an improvisation by jazz pianist Iden Essen, recorded on December 3rd, 1987. Rick Bato refers to it as "Improv Number Three," as it was the third piece performed during a concert featuring approximately an hour and a half of entirely improvised music.
