In a not-so-distant future, humanity faces a grim predicament brought on by a natural disaster known as "the big heat up," whereby the sun’s rays become dangerously scorching. People have resorted to a life confined indoors, seeking solace in virtual reality (VR) experiences and depending heavily on a medication called Lithium X, which supplements Vitamin D and combats mental health deterioration due to isolation. As a result, human connection is severed, with the majority of society choosing digital interactions over face-to-face encounters. The only beings still venturing outside are clones—specially designed to endure the harsh sun—who are employed for essential services, such as medical appointments.
