Part 2/7:
As the story unfolds, Jesse and his adoptive father, Glenn, spend quality time steering their boat. However, their idyllic day is disrupted when Dwight, a foster care worker, brings distressing news: Jesse’s long-lost mother has died, leaving behind another son, Elvis, who now needs a home. Jesse's anger and grief surface as he feels abandoned once more, choosing to run away rather than face his new reality.
Jesse’s journey leads him to the port, but Glenn finds him and urges him to accept Elvis, who will stay with their family temporarily. The introduction of Elvis creates tension, as he proves to be rebellious, mirroring Jesse’s own struggles when he first entered the adoptive home.
