The Return to Motunui
Upon returning to Motunui, Moana is celebrated as the village's new chief, her heroics widely shared among the Islanders. She reunites with her father, Tui, and her younger sister, Sina. Their warm welcome is momentarily interrupted by inquiries about gifts, leading Moana to share the story of the pot she found, which provoked her to seek out more distant lands.
In the course of their conversation, Moana recalls the ancient navigators, like their ancestor T Vasa, who sought to unite the ocean peoples—a dream she now feels responsible for carrying forward. Sina inquires if Maui, the demigod who previously aided Moana, might help her in this mission. However, Moana reveals that Maui has been wandering the globe alone since their last adventure.
