As the voyage unfolds, the crew faces friction among its members, indicating underlying tensions. Yet the youthful spirit of adventure encourages them to embrace their journey. Everything shifts dramatically when they encounter the tiny Pirates of Kakamura, who resemble living coconuts and are embroiled in their own struggles.
After being captured by the Kakamura, who initially see them as a threat but quickly change their approach, Moana learns of their plight as they seek to return home after being separated when Nalo divided the oceans. Moana empathizes with their mission and decides to aid them against a monstrous mollusk that guards the path to Motu Fetu.
