While Chase works on establishing a new veterinary clinic, Jeff begins to explore their new home. He discovers a litter of kittens left abandoned, which sparks a tender moment between him and his father as they decide to keep one. Yet, troubles arise when Jeff encounters the bullying Clyde, resulting in a violent confrontation that brings more challenges into the young boy's life.

After an emotional week in school, Jeff befriends Drew, Gus’s stepson, and finds solace in their camaraderie amidst their emotional turmoil. However, the increasingly unsettling presence of Gus, especially after he inexplicably resurrects with a menacing demeanor following death, escalates the tension.
