According to reports from the Santa Fe County Sheriff, Gene Hackman was found in a mudroom, exhibiting signs indicative of a fall. Meanwhile, Betsy Hackman was discovered in the bathroom alongside an open prescription bottle and scattered pills. Tragically, one of their dogs was also found deceased in the bathroom. The sheriff's office noted that the bodies showed signs of having been left unattended for an extended period, as they were partly mummified, indicating that they had likely been deceased for weeks.
