During a scheduled performance at approximately 2:30 p.m., Chachi climbed into a specially designed cannon, preparing to be shot into the air at a breathtaking speed of 55 mph to achieve a distance of 160 feet. However, a sudden change in wind conditions ultimately turned the stunt into a disaster. The Los Angeles Times reported that Chachi missed the safety net landing zone due to these risky crosswinds and tragically landed on the asphalt instead.
