Betsy Hackman, aged 65, passed due to Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, with her death ruled as natural. Autopsy examinations, including comprehensive postmortem CT scans, revealed no signs of external or internal trauma. Microscopic findings confirmed the diagnosis of Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, while laboratory tests conducted at clinical labs returned positive for the virus, which necessitated further confirmation testing that also proved positive.
Further tests for COVID-19, influenza, and other common respiratory viruses returned negative results. Additionally, a search of the scene revealed the presence of thyroid medication, which Betsy was reportedly taking as prescribed and is not considered a contributing factor to her death.
