Making promises to oneself and failing to keep them can lead to severe mental repercussions. Each unkept promise becomes a stepping stone towards self-doubt, eroding the very foundation of self-worth. The ongoing cycle of self-betrayal creates negative self-talk, which is arguably one of the most damaging elements in our mental landscape.
When we constantly tell ourselves we will accomplish certain tasks but do not follow through, we breed excuses that lead us to choose the easier path over disciplined action. It is crucial to recognize that those excuses are indeed lies we fabricate to make ourselves feel better about inaction.
