The story begins on a dark note as the Guardian Units of Nations (GUUN) prison facility on a secluded Japanese island houses a powerful being named Shadow. Having been in a deep slumber for 50 years, Shadow is abruptly awakened by memories of his friend Maria. Fueled by a rush of nostalgia and vengeance, he hacks into the facility's systems, swiftly overpowering guards, teleporting with incredible speed, and breaking free from his confinement. With the world outside awaiting him, Shadow escapes at breakneck speed, heading towards Tokyo.
