Part 2/9:

Despite this tension, Timen is happy with his choice. He gifts the girl a piece of crow bone, promising to return five years later to marry her. On their way back, a fierce storm strikes, forcing Timen, his father, and their companions to seek shelter in a cave. After the storm, they resume their journey and soon run into a hostile tribe. According to Mongol law, bloodshed near water is forbidden, and both sides cautiously wait for the other to make the first move. A gesture of peace, however, leads to betrayal. Timen's father drinks poisoned milk offered by the opposing tribe and dies, and amidst the chaos, the opportunistic companion Alton declares himself the leader of the tribe.
