Disaster strikes when a group of armed men ambushes Wheeler after he opens the motel door, expecting Melissa. In a frantic bid to escape, he seizes the drive and rushes to find Melissa at a nearby restaurant. Their connection is palpable as they attempt to flee together, but their escape abruptly turns chaotic. As they rush to their car, Melissa realizes that the drive has slipped onto the road. In a selfless act, she turns back to retrieve it but is tragically shot in the process. Weighing his options, Wheeler is forced to abandon the fight, believing it is the only way to survive.
